International Football Tournament at KAMAX

The team from the plant in Osterode (Germany) celebrates the victory

Five teams from Spain, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany were hungry for success: all European plants of automotive supplier KAMAX competed for victory at the eighth edition of the football tournament on the Freiheiter Höhen sports ground in Osterode, Germany. Hundreds of spectators watched the exciting duels throughout the day in perfect summer weather. In the end, the team from the plant in Osterode won the trophy with an outstanding goal difference.

On this day, however, the focus was on fairness, teamwork and the joy of the game - values that are not only important in football. This was also emphasized by Peter Büsing, Regional CEO Europe of the KAMAX Group, who opened the tournament together with local mayor Axel Kruschwitz and plant manager Sebastian Glasl: "Events like this bring us even closer together. Cohesion in Europe is important. Each plant should bring out the best in itself and support each other when things aren't going so well at one site. Only together can we win in the end.”

Kids and adults could play soccer darts and bouncy castles off the field. There were also plenty of opportunities to network over free food and drinks. The weekend started with a tour at the company’s founding plant on Friday, since all teams arrived the day before the tournament: by bus and even by bike - around 500 km from Turnov from the Czech Republic, by bus from Slovakia and Wuppertal and by plane from Spain.

A perfect summer's day set the stage for a high-level exchange between the teams. The employees from the Osterode plant, whose players are also active in regional soccer, put in a very good performance. In the end, it was no surprise that the unbeaten team defeated the Homberg 5:1 in the final of the day. The top scorer of the day also came from Osterode: Jan Schunke secured the title with seven goals in four games.
